In the fruit and vegetable packaging sector, ensuring the safety of the product in contact with food is not just a regulatory requirement: it is a direct responsibility toward consumer health and the company’s reputation. In a global context where shipments are increasingly long-distance and under demanding conditions, choosing the right packaging material is key to ensuring quality, traceability, and legal compliance for each shipment. At CATENVA, we are fully aware of this reality. That is why we manufacture plywood boards specifically designed for food contact, complying with health regulations both in Spain and in international markets. Our products are tailored to meet the needs of exporting companies, agricultural cooperatives, and various fruit and vegetable industries that require safe, resistant, and certified packaging.
What makes a plywood board safe for food contact?
Not all plywood boards are suitable for contact with food products. To meet hygienic and sanitary requirements, the material must:- Not transfer toxic substances or contaminants to the food.
 - Be stable, moisture-resistant, and not prone to splintering.
 - Be manufactured with non-toxic glues and adhesives suitable for indirect food contact.
 - Have a clean surface, free of residues or harmful surface treatments.
 - Comply with regulations such as Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and, for export purposes, with the requirements of the destination country (FDA, international phytosanitary standards, etc.).
